The ALTHY is a 20-stage inline shower filter that installs between the shower arm and shower head. Its filtration system combines sediment filtration with several media designed to reduce chlorine and other impurities in shower water.
Water passes through a sand filter and ultra-fine stainless-steel mesh for sediment, followed by calcium sulfite, redox media and activated carbon. The filtration system also includes mineralised beads, zeolite, Vitamin C and tourmaline. The manufacturer's filtration chart specifically identifies calcium sulfite for reducing chlorine in both hot and cold water and notes that the filter does not lower TDS.

How to Use
- Unscrew your shower head from the shower arm.
- Screw the filter onto the arm, then screw the shower head onto the filter.
- Hand-tighten both connections and run the shower to check for leaks.
- Replace the cartridge every 3–4 months as the manufacturer recommends.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will it fit my shower?
It uses a G1/2" connector, which is the standard fitting on Australian shower arms, and the manufacturer lists it as compatible with handheld, fixed and rain shower heads. The housing is 165mm long, so check you have that much clearance between your shower arm and head.
How often does the cartridge need replacing?
The manufacturer recommends every 3–4 months. Actual life depends on your water and how much you use the shower, so treat that as the guide rather than a fixed date.
Do I need a plumber to install it?
No. It screws in between the shower arm and the head, hand-tight, with no tools and no fittings. Run the shower afterwards to check both connections for leaks, and don't install it in line with a shower head that already has its own filter cartridge.
Does it soften the water?
No. The manufacturer's filtration chart states that the filter does not lower TDS. Its specified filtration functions include reducing chlorine, trihalomethanes and sediment rather than functioning as a conventional water softener.
