Alex D.UMF is New Zealand's honey certification system, run by the UMF Honey Association, which tests each batch independently for four markers — methylglyoxal, leptosperin, DHA and HMF — to verify the honey's grade, its floral source and its freshness. MGO measures methylglyoxal concentration in milligrams per kilogram. On published UMF-to-MGO conversion charts, a UMF 15+ grade corresponds to a minimum of MGO 514+, so the stated 573+ sits above the threshold for its grade.
The remainder of the list is essential oils and a botanical extract: manuka, bergamot, tea tree, rosemary, frankincense, eucalyptus and geranium.

UMF is New Zealand's certification system for manuka honey, administered by the UMF Honey Association. Each batch is independently tested against four markers to confirm its grade, its floral source and its freshness. The number is the grade; MGO 573+ is the methylglyoxal concentration in milligrams per kilogram that sits behind it. Most manuka skincare doesn't state either figure.
There's no water in it. The base is tallow with beeswax and avocado oil, which makes it an anhydrous balm rather than a lotion. It needs warming between your fingers before it spreads, and it sits on the skin longer than a water-based cream. That's the trade-off for the texture.
Yes. It's a 118ml / 4 fl oz jar, giving you a substantial amount of a waterless balm. Because the texture is rich, start with a small amount, warm it between your fingers and add more only where needed.
Don't use it if you have a known allergy to bees or bee products — it contains both Manuka honey and beeswax. The formula also contains essential oils including tea tree, bergamot and eucalyptus, so patch test before wider use, particularly if your skin is sensitive to fragranced products. For external use only. Apply to unbroken skin and discontinue use if irritation develops.
